Rowner, Gosport
Background
English Partnerships is providing £7.5m to support the regeneration and renewal of the Rowner Estate in Gosport, Hampshire. To facilitate the regeneration, The Rowner Renewal Project has been formed as a partnership between English Partnerships, Gosport Borough Council, Hampshire County Council, Portsmouth Housing Association and Taylor Wimpey Developments.
The Partnership has drawn up regeneration proposals to replace over 500 homes, including 350 in private ownership, with modern environmentally-friendly homes. It will create a sustainable community with new local facilities and shops. The first new homes will be available in 2009 and the project completed by 2015.
Current status
In October 2007 the Rowner Renewal Partnership launched a detailed consultation programme, designed to encapsulate the views of local residents and community groups.
Residents of the estate are being contacted individually and the consultation programme will play a significant role in guiding and developing the final plans for the estate. This initial consultation programme is nearing completion.
